Blocking Sustainable Fibers                                       Bias Knit Scarf

Blocking Sustainable Fibers

In the previous article it was mentioned that sustainable fibers have some of the same qualities of acrylic. They can be machine washed and dried. But it also can be melted with a hot iron as ... this is from personal experience. There have been several phone conversations concerning the blocking. Here is the TS phone forum conclusions:

These items should be blocked with warm water and weight. Cynthia spun a wet towel in her washing machine and then heated it up in the microwave. She placed the warm towel over the top of the garment, smoothed it into shape and left it to dry. Sharon placed a wet towel over the garment, patted it smooth and used a medium hot iron to set the block.

Please let us know if there are any other methods.

New design from Sharon.

We have joined the needle felting craze thanks to the new drum carder. There are some new designs in the picture gallery and we have lots of needle felting tools ... 2 and 6-12 needle tools, specialty needles, design books ... and ROVING. Nathan has been dyeing up a storm and we are place the 1 ounce batting on headers. The rack they are hanging on looks prettier than a Christmas tree. Lots of the items are on sale in the store and more will follow soon. We also have kits made up for children or adults. These are very easy projects and way too much fun!
